A modest new house designed to meet the owner’s unique requirements and budget. The house is compact with three bedrooms, an open plan ground floor, large garage and partial finished basement. A special foundation was engineered to compensate for the poor soil conditions at the site, which is located adjacent to wetlands. Simplicity, ease-of-cleaning and low maintenance were main themes of this design, with attention paid to natural air-flow and daylighting. From the start, this house was designed to be built by a home builder and the builder was brought on board early in the design process. This allowed good control of budget and quality as the specifications for the house were developed.
